Library Media Center: Our library provides access to a variety of resources including books, magazines, online databases, computer programs, audiovisual materials and much more. These resources are made available to support student learning and to ensure students have many experiences which influence their development as information technology literate citizens. We are staffed by one full-time media coordinator, one full-time media assistant, plus student assistants. The media center will purchase items of interest, please ask. We encourage students to check out up to 4 items from the Media Center with most materials circulating for 3 weeks. While we do not charge late fees, there will be fines for lost books.
Mission: Our mission is to create a student-centered environment that inspires creative and critical thinking alongside a passion for reading. We will teach responsible use of technology to support and enhance the curriculum and create productive citizens and life-long learners.
Vision: Our vision is to stay current with technology and best practices to support our school community and grow with them.
The purpose of the Battle of the Books program is to encourage reading by all students at the middle school level. Students, regardless of ability, are exposed to quality literature presenting a variety of literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors in the area of young adult literature. The fame format creates interest and excitement in reading. Through the fun and excitement of the competition, students improve reading skills, mature in their choices of reading materials, and acquire a broader knowledge base. Even during the height of the competition, students and coaches should remember that the goal is to READ, not necessarily to win.
