Visitors went around the world in 80 minutes at International Night, held Thursday at A.C. Reynolds Middle School.
"This is a way to acknowledge the diversity of our students,” shared English as a Second Language teacher Colleen Marks, who organized the event with Spanish teacher Maria Giron Ramirez. “Our hope is that by bringing these students and their families together, we all have an opportunity to learn about different cultures.”
Students set up tables and displays featuring iconic cultural items, and brought traditional foods to share their family heritage. The evening included a special performance by a family mariachi band, featuring two Reynolds Middle School students.
“We hope that visitors took away from this experience a truly wonderful night of multiculturalism, celebrating music, dance, food and family,” Marks said.
This is the second year Reynolds Middle School hosted International Night.
