🧪🌿 A.C. Reynolds Middle School sixth graders took science to the summit during a field trip to the Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center at Purchase Knob in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

From hiking mountain trails and journaling in the fresh air to taking in the stunning views to studying soil, bugs, and streams, students explored nature hands-on, microscopes and all. Teachers and park rangers teamed up to make the experience as memorable as it was educational.

“The activities were fun, and it was great to do them with my friends,” said Roland, one of the students.

Fellow student Kennedy put it best: “We’ve learned a bunch about nature and dirt!”
