Welcome to my classroom!

Welcome! I love teaching the wonderful students
at Reynolds Middle School, but I was
not always a teacher. I began teaching in 1998.
My
first career was being a mom to my three children and working our small
farm in Michigan with my husband. Once my children were all in school,
they inspired me to return to college to finish my degree. In
fact my oldest daughter's first grade teacher convinced me that I should
pursue a teaching career. I have always been active in the educational
environment helping out as a classroom aid, tutoring struggling
students, substitute teaching, and finally becoming the teacher with a
classroom of my own. Because of my son's struggles with dyslexia,
I received training in Orton-Gillingham and have used that knowledge to
tutor a wide variety of students. I earned my teaching degree
from Eastern Michigan University and my masters degree in education from
Mary Grove College in Detroit. My husband and I moved to North Carolina
in 2006 to join the Reynolds Middle School family. It was a big move
but we love it here. The mountains are always gorgeous and my passion
for the outdoors is full-filled. My door is always open. Stop in and visit some time.
