A. C. Reynolds High School Registration

January 10, 2017

Dear Parents,

Spring is right around the corner, and for 8th graders that means …high school registration! Now, more than ever, you will need to become an active participant in this planning process in order to help your child make well-informed decisions.

You may be wondering what is being done at school to help your child navigate through this complicated process.  I will visit classrooms to share information about high school registration and graduation requirements, and to help students see how this fits in with the process of career development.  Students will be introduced to CFNC (College Foundation of NC), a website filled with tools helpful in planning for high school, college, and careers.  During this hands-on experience, students create a personal account for use in for mapping out career plans. I encourage you to explore this site as a family. Please see login instructions below.

Middle school and high school counselors work closely together to facilitate a smooth transition to high school. Listed below is the proposed timeline for the rising 9th grade orientation/registration process:

January             Mrs. Garland presents “Transition to High School” through selected classes.

February 21  High school counselors meet with 8th graders through ELA classes.

February 22        Students visit ACR High School.
March 7              PARENT INFORMATION MEETING regarding high school graduation                           requirements and registration,  6:00 p.m. ACR High Auditorium

March 8   Students visit Nesbitt Discovery Academy(STEM), Early College and AB Tech

March 13   Meeting for parents interested in Bunc. Co. Early College and Nesbitt Disc.
Academy - 6:00 pm - Reynolds Middle Auditorium
March 16   Students register for high school online through select classes

Remember that communication is critical during this process.  Frequently ask your child to share the information that he/she will be receiving at school in order to make well-informed decisions as a family.  Also, I will post any pertinent information on the ACRMS website.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns about use of the CFNC website or about this journey through high school registration.  I will make every effort to assist you.
